Handwriting, printed
Fill in one sheet with your pen, once. After that, anything you type comes out in your handwriting on ruled paper, ready to print. A one page note or a 40 page assignment, every document from now on.
- Free
- Any pen, any printer
- Works on your phone
How it works
Three steps. Then just type.
-
01
Print the sheet and fill it in
About 10 minutes. You only do it once.
-
02
Take a photo of it
Your phone camera is enough.
-
03
Type anything, then print
Type it, paste it or import a PDF or Word file. Save it as a PDF or as pictures.
Why it looks real
Every letter is one you wrote.
-
Several versions of
every letter, so no
two look the same. -
Words sit on the line
the way yours do.
As neat or as loose as you are. -
Many papers built in.
Set one up by size, or upload
a photo of your own page. -
Saved. Every document
after this takes minutes,
not an evening. -
PDF or pictures,
ready to print
or send.- PDF, with the lines or writing only for your own notebook
- Pictures: clean, scanned look or phone photo look
- Every page in one zip
- A video of the page writing itself
About 10 minutes with a pen. Then every document, in minutes.

Print the sheets and fill them in
Pages of boxes. You write one letter in each box. More sheets means more versions of every letter, and that is what makes the result look real. One sheet is enough to start. You can add sheets later.
- Use the pen you normally write with.
- Rest each letter on the dotted line. Tails hang below it.
- Stay clear of the box edges.
- A box went wrong? Cross it out and carry on. Every letter has spare boxes.
No printer? Write on the screen
Draw each letter in a box with your finger or a stylus. About five minutes. A real pen on paper looks more like you, but this works anywhere.
Add a photo of each sheet
Lay the page flat in good light. Keep all four corner squares in the picture. Any way up is fine. A scan from a scanner app works too.
Here is your handwriting

Crossed out letters are left out. We already crossed out the ones that looked like mistakes. Tap again to bring one back.

Privacy
What happens to your text, your photos and your handwriting when you use Ownhand.
What stays on your phone or computer
Your text, the photos of your sheets, the papers you set up and every page you make are made in the browser, on your own device. None of it is sent to us. The browser keeps a copy in its own storage so it is there next time you open the site. Clearing the browser's site data removes it.
What an account keeps
Sign in is optional. If you sign in, we keep your email address and the handwriting files you save: the letters read from your sheets, about 100 to 300 KB each. They sit on our servers at Cloudflare so you can use them on another device. Your text and your pages are never sent, only the handwriting files.
Delete a handwriting and it is deleted from the account too. Sign out and it stays in this browser. On the account screen you can delete the whole account. That removes your email address, your sign ins and your handwriting files from our servers at once.
Learning from your own pages
You can show Ownhand a page you wrote in the ordinary way, so it picks up how you write: the lean, the gaps between words, how even your lines are. That measuring happens in the browser, on your own device. The photo is not sent to us and only the few numbers it gives are kept, inside the handwriting file.
The deep read, part of Ownhand Pro, is different. It needs a look at the page itself to see what measuring cannot: letters you wrote over, words you crossed out, line ends you cramped in. When you ask for it, up to four of your page photos are sent to our server at Cloudflare and from there to Claude, an AI model run by Anthropic, which looks at how the page is written and sends back a few numbers. It is asked not to copy out or comment on what the page says. We do not keep the photos. Anthropic's own terms cover how long it holds what it is sent. Do not use the deep read on a page you would not show a stranger.
Paying for Ownhand Pro
Payments are taken by Razorpay. Your card or UPI details go to Razorpay, never to us. We keep the amount, the date, the Razorpay payment number and the day your Pro runs out. If you delete your account that payment record stays, with no email address on it, because business accounts have to be kept.
Sign in codes
The 6 digit code comes from ownhand.typeit@gmail.com, sent through Gmail. We keep a scrambled copy of the code and a note of your network address until the code expires, ten minutes later, so nobody can flood an address with codes. Each sign in also notes which browser it came from, so you can tell your sign ins apart. Sign in with Google gives us your email address and nothing else.
Cookies
One cookie, only while you are signed in, so the site knows it is you. No tracking, no analytics, no ads. The Razorpay payment window sets its own while it is open.
Other services the page uses
The page loads its typefaces from Google Fonts and a few helper scripts from cdnjs: the animation library when the page opens, the font maker when you ask for a font file, the PDF reader when you import a PDF and the Razorpay payment window when you buy Pro. Those services see that a browser asked for the files, as any web host does. They never see your text, your photos or your handwriting.
Backups
On the My handwriting screen, Save a copy gives you one handwriting as a small file and Save everything gives you all of your handwriting and papers in one file. Keep it anywhere, load it on any device, with or without an account.
